Tony’s Painting CA Inc. is looking for dependable, detail-oriented team members who take pride in clean preparation, professional painting, safe jobsite habits, and quality workmanship. We work on residential, commercial, HOA, property management, and multi-unit painting projects across San Diego County.

Compensation depends on experience, skill level, reliability, role requirements, project needs, and applicable wage requirements. Final pay rate is determined during the hiring process. All listed positions are non-exempt hourly positions unless otherwise stated.

Painter Prepper / Apprentice (Entry-Level)

  • Compensation: $17.75–$20.00/hr DOE (non-exempt)
  • Schedule: Full-time or part-time, based on company needs

About the role

Start a painting career with a team that values training, safety, clean preparation, and professional workmanship. The Painter Prepper / Apprentice supports crews with jobsite setup, surface preparation, masking, cleanup, material handling, and basic painting tasks on residential and commercial projects.

What you will do

  • Assist with daily jobsite setup and end-of-day cleanup.
  • Help protect floors, furniture, landscaping, fixtures, and surrounding areas.
  • Assist with surface preparation, including scraping, sanding, masking, taping, caulking, patching, and cleaning where directed.
  • Assist with brush and roller application under supervision.
  • Support painters, crew leads, and project leads with material setup and project flow.
  • Care for tools and equipment; keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow written work orders, jobsite instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Learn proper prep, masking, brush, roller, cleanup, and jobsite-protection methods.

What you will need

  • Willingness to learn the painting trade and take direction.
  • Positive, reliable, and professional attitude.
  • Dependable transportation preferred.
  • Comfort working around ladders and active jobsites.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a crew.

  • Prior painting, construction, or labor experience is helpful but not required.

Painter (Experienced)

  • Compensation: $22.00–$30.00/hr DOE + performance-based bonuses where applicable (non-exempt)
  • Schedule: Full-time

About the role

Tony's Painting CA Inc. is seeking experienced painters who can deliver clean, efficient, and professional interior and exterior painting work. This role requires strong preparation skills, attention to detail, safe work habits, and the ability to work with limited supervision while following the approved project scope.

What you will do

  • Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces according to project instructions and approved written scope.
  • Perform masking, sanding, scraping, cleaning, caulking, patching, priming, brushing, rolling, and spraying where applicable.
  • Produce clean finishes on walls, trim, doors, windows, fascia, cabinets, shutters, and other included surfaces.
  • Protect work areas, furnishings, fixtures, floors, landscaping, and surrounding surfaces.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas throughout the project.
  • Read and follow work orders, product information, safety instructions, and crew lead direction.
  • Communicate surface concerns, prep issues, material needs, or scope questions to the crew lead or project lead.
  • Support and mentor prepper/apprentice team members when needed.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition.

What you will need

  • Minimum 2 years of professional residential and/or commercial painting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with brush, roller, masking, caulking, sanding, surface preparation, and cleanup.
  • Sprayer experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of paint products, surface preparation, drying/curing considerations, and substrate compatibility.
  • Ability to work safely around ladders, tools, equipment, and active jobsites.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain production pace without sacrificing quality.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license preferred.
  • Authorization to work in the United States; employment eligibility verification completed after offer.

Foreman / Crew Leader

  • Location: El Cajon, CA 92021 / San Diego County jobsites
  • Compensation: $28.00–$38.00/hr DOE + performance-based bonuses where applicable (non-exempt)
  • Schedule: Full-time

About the role

The Foreman / Crew Leader helps lead painting crews, manage daily jobsite flow, maintain safety and quality standards, coordinate with the project lead, and keep work moving according to the approved written scope. This role requires field painting experience, leadership ability, organization, and professional communication.

What you will do

  • Review approved scope, work orders, and project priorities with the crew.
  • Plan daily job flow, sequencing, setup, material needs, and production targets.
  • Oversee and participate in prep, masking, patching, priming, brushing, rolling, spraying, cleanup, and punch-list work.
  • Monitor quality, pace, safety, cleanliness, and jobsite organization.
  • Track hours, materials, progress, and project issues when required.
  • Communicate surface issues, scope questions, delays, or change-order needs to the assigned project lead.
  • Coordinate daily updates, access needs, staging, and closeout tasks where applicable.
  • Train, coach, and support painters, prepper/apprentices, and new hires.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, property managers, tenants, residents, vendors, and other trades when applicable.
  • Complete pre-job, daily, and closeout checklists when required.

What you will need

  • Minimum 4 years of professional painting experience preferred.
  • At least 1 year of lead, foreman, or crew-supervision experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of painting preparation, coatings, tools, application methods, safety practices, and jobsite flow.
  • Proficiency with brush, roller, sprayer, masking, patching, caulking, surface preparation, and cleanup.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, project scopes, product information, and jobsite instructions.
  • Strong communication, leadership, time-management, and customer-service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred; may be required for roles involving driving or material transport.
  • Own basic painting tools preferred.
  • Authorization to work in the United States; employment eligibility verification completed after offer.

Physical requirements (all roles)

  • Stand, bend, reach, kneel, and work for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds when needed.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights when required.
  • Work indoors and outdoors depending on project needs.
  • Wear required PPE when assigned. If respirator use is assigned, company-provided medical evaluation and fit testing will be completed before use.
